The AFCY Youth Advisory Council was established in the fall of 2007 to pose as a voice for the youth who are involved in their programming. After starting off with only four members we are now glad to show a team of nine all with similar goals of helping establish a face for the youth of AFCY. Originally we would provide feedback on programming, grant proposals, and future endeavours and during our monthly meetings we cultivated what would soon become the BIG BAM BOOM. Originally it was thought of as a showcase of youth talent from an array of AFCY programming but over time this idea grew into a three-day festival featuring a tasteful combination of visual arts(photographs, drawings, masks) and performing arts(beat boxing, hip hop dancing, spoken word, singing). Now we are all taking on the task of making this an annual event that everyone can look forward to and appreciate the talents and hard work of AFCY community members and youth.
